The answer to a bricked iPhone?

So you've got your iPhone and set about unlocking it... but now that's kinda screwed you up in ever being able to update the firmware. If you go for an update on an unlocked iPhone you run the risk of bricking it as many have found out to their cost...

But help is at hand as over on GoogleCode the 'Elite' hacking team have posted up a method to restoring your iPhone to it's factory defaults if you've accidentally upgraded to the 1.1.1 firmware using the anySIM unlock.

The bricking is, apparently, caused by the 1.1.1 iPhone firmware only partially over-writing your unlocked iPhone baseband, which confuses the hell out of the phone... Well now you can rollback to factory defaults and though the procedure looks complicated and fairly lengthy, that's got to be better than a several hundred dollar paperweight, right?
