Be safe, be seen!

Ok, so bike lights arent the normal kind of thing we cover here but I know lots of us use bikes for getting to work and general biking around.

The fun of biking is often tempered by the danger of being hit by other road users and, being no stranger to the damage that hitting a car can cause, I thought you lot might appreciate this one.

It's basically a bike light but with the unique difference of not only shining a beam forwards, but also shining one back at you too!

The inventor says that he had the idea when he nearly hit a cyclist as he was pulling out of a t-junction. Even though the cyclist was wearing a fluorescent vest, because he wasn't lit by any headlamps and his own bike light was pointing down on the road, he was nearly invisible until it was almost too late...

So the Lightrider bike light came from a near-miss, giving riders the option to illuminate themselves all the time and not have to rely on passing cars or street-lamps to make their hi-vis jackets shine.

There's actually three beams coming from the light, one back to you, one at an angle down onto the road and third shining straight ahead, giving the rider the best chance of being spotted.

If you're a cyclist and dreading these dim winter mornings and dark evenings, maybe this is worth a look over at www.lightrider.co.uk

I don't bike much anymore but that's a pretty neat idea. Just so long as the light is pretty dim and aimed at the jacket, it should work great.
Looking at the pictures, it's the light shining back at you is hooded, and the angled beams in the flash animation on the site show that the road beam is angled down quite far meaning you won't have to tilt it miles shining the rear beam into your face.

I've mailed them about getting one to look at.
