Extra, Extra! Teletext Extra is on the way

Remember Teletext? That very helpful service you may have used a whole lot more before you even discovered what the now very popular red button does? Well, Teletext has always been here to stay and now it's getting better in the form of Teletext Extra.

Teletext Extra is a new Teletext experience designed for all the Freeview users, it's currently being made available to owners of certain set top boxes, namely the Ferguson FDT 2000, Grundig GDT 1500T, Grundig GDT 2000, Thomson DTI 1000 and Alba STB8. The new service features a sophisticated Electronic Programme Guide and all the useful information you'd expect to find on Teletext.

Furthermore, to help develop the service, Teletext are offering a free set top box and Ā£50 a year to those willing to sign up to their Advanced User Program. Must be a catch right? Well, only a small one, all they ask is that you visit a special screen on the TV that gives you some letters and numbers for you to send them via text message once a week.

If it sounds like something you may be interested in, head over to the official Teletext Extra website for all the details on the service, and how you can register for your free set top box.
