Spain's Blogging Gran
If I had to draw a mental image of my Gran, she'd be sitting in front of the fireplace knitting herself a new jumper. The same can't be said for all grandparents however, particularly Maria Amelia Lopez, a 95 year old great grandmother now more commonly known as Spain's Blogging Gran.
Having been given a blog by her grandson as a birthday present, Maria now has a following of some 60,000 readers from all age groups putting her in touch with people in a way she never knew possible. "No one pays any attention to old women any more. Not many people love us. But I was surprised by the Internet, because young people who were 18 years of age, or 14 or 15, tell me about their lives and what they think and ask my advice" states Lopez.
With the help of her grandson, Daniel, Maria's blog covers stories from throughout her life. With accounts on Spain's Civil War, young men back in her day and even the thought of passing away before getting broadband as stated in one recent entry.
If you're wondering what to get your grandparents this Christmas, don't say we don't give you any ideas.
