We've all got friends who now have thumbs with cat like reflexes due to the sheer volume of text messages that they send. With the UK sending 1 billion text messages per week, a whole new language is becoming ever more prominent.

Web and mobile users familiar with the so called "SMS slang" can now use a mobile-style keyboard which will plug directly into any PC and allow u 2 talk lik u wud on ur fone 2 ur hearts content.

The cre8txt keyboard, available to purchase online now, provides quick character entry via the keypad for those who prefer not use the trusted old QWERTY layout. As the user presses the keys on the cre8txt keyboard (which are similar in layout to those on a mobile phone), any SMS text slang is instantly translated.

The inventors believe that this kind of translation and context sensitive word prediction will help learners develop their written language skills and that this technology will be particularly appealing to young learners.

An ingenious design or a crazy idea? I'm thinking the latter but who knows, maybe this device would help me create text messages that fit in the 255 character limit.
