F1 driver going fast, whatever next?
Lewis Hamilton, British Formula One superstar, seems to have mistaken the French motorway for a grand prix circuit as he was caught driving at 122mph in a Mercedes near the northern town of Laon on Sunday.
A McLaren spokesman told BBC Sport: "McLaren has been made aware that Lewis was stopped for speeding in France whilst driving in a private capacity. We understand he has received a mandatory fine and suspension from driving in France for one month."
The mandatory fine of €600 won't put much of a dent in the superstar's wallet, but we're sure Formula One rival Fernando Alonso finds the whole thing very amusing.
Hamilton narrowly missed out on becoming Formula One champion earlier in the year and judging by the speeds he travels at on public motorways, he's eager to get the new campaign underway.
