2008 Oscar nominations announced

No Country For Old Men and There Will Be Blood lead the way

The 2008 Oscar nominations are in and though most were largely expected, a few are surprising. British romantic drama, Atonement, picked up 7 nominations of its own but surprisingly, its lead stars Keira Knightly and James McAvoy both missed out on nominations.

Leading the pack with eight nominations each are the Coen brothers' violent thriller, No Country For Old Men and Paul Thomas Anderson's historical drama, There Will Be Blood.

Most shocking of all, Norbit, often touted as the worst movie of the year, received a nomination for "Achievement in Make-Up". Here is the full list of nominations:
