Crystal Skull gets pictured

Seeing as you've come this far, you're already aware that spoilers lie ahead so I'll get right to it.

On May 22nd this year, our favourite whip-wielding hero, Dr Jones, returns to the big screen in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

When the title of the movie was originally announced, fans of the series collectively raised an eyebrow. It sounds adventurous and does fit in well, but what is it actually about? Which missing piece of archaeological history is the Crystal Skull? We had no idea, until now.

In true Indiana style, ActionFigureInsider managed to sneak into an abandoned underground warehouse and get hold of a promotional poster from a Japanese company designing a variety of Indiana Jones memorabilia. Well, they might not have done the sneaking around and found it underground, but nonetheless, the flyer shows a host of Indiana Jones treasures such as the Holy Grail and Shankara Stones. It even has a picture of the Crystal Skull.

That isn't all though, following one sneak peak, there's always a second and MovieWeb kindly served up this image:

Now I don't know about you, but from where I'm looking, that skull certainly isn't human. It looks as though Dr Jones is going to be discovering alien lifeforms this time around. Originally, Frank Darabont, screenplay writer of The Shawshank Redemption, had been hired to write the script for Indiana Jones IV. His script, largely based around aliens and Area 51 was rejected by George Lucas. Has Lucas had a change of heart however? We're certainly feeling an alien vibe from these images.

In other Indiana Jones news, and most definitely a trip down memory lane, MTV has unearthed the following production photo from Indiana Jones IV. Fans of the series will notice immediately that yes, that does indeed appear to be the warehouse shown at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark. May just can't come soon enough.
