The Waboba Ball is made of polyurethane with a lycra coating and measures roughly the size of a tennis ball. It doesn't look a whole lot different, either, but its secret is the ability to bounce and float on water.

As with most crazes these days, the Waboba Ball found fame on the online video-sharing website YouTube. Having appeared on the hugely popular website, the Waboba Ball is said to have become an overnight craze.

The idea is to take the ball to water (preferably the sea as your local swimming pool may not approve) and throw it around. Bounce it on the water and it'll go sky-high, and it'll skip along the water making for a nice game of catch. Not so sure? Take a look at this promotional clip:

According to users, one of the best ways to utilise the ball is to play the Waboba Beach Game which is described as follows:

The idea of the game is to make two teams and throw the ball to other members of your team, without losing the ball to the other side. Simple! When all team members have caught the ball at least once, without interruption and with at least one bounce on water in each pass, the team gets a point. The opposing team then has to try to interrupt passes and if they do, they can keep the ball and it's there turn to try to score. First team to three points wins the match. The only other rules are that you are allowed to tackle and grapple with other players, but not the player with the ball. Oh, and you have to throw the ball within five seconds of catching it!

I'll admit, I'd never heard of the Waboba Ball before today, but having seen it in action - I'm itching to give it a go. Anyone tried one of these? If so, share your thoughts in the HEXUS.community forums.

The Waboba Ball is available from Firebox.com for £4.99, or a twin-pack can be purchased from Play.com for £8.99.

That looks great - why don't they bring out a football sized one?
Yes I just came back from Corfu and someone had one of these looked fund they would skip accross the sea then hit a wave and suddenly going straight up in the air not losing any momentum. I was going to ask were they got it from.
Wow that looks fun :) I want one
Might actually get a couple for my holiday to Ibiza in September. We have a large villa with its own pool :)
