Logitech has made some innovative peripherals over the years, but we're undecided on its latest; the Logitech V550 Nano Cordless Laser Mouse.

The mouse, pictured below, features the usual 2.4GHz wireless connectivity, a precision laser, hyper-fast scrolling and Logitech's plug-and-forget Nano-receiver. What helps make the product unique is its Clip-and-Go dock, which allows you to clip the mouse to your notebook's exterior.

Logitech states that the mouse is easy to attach, and the dock comes in silver or black to help match your notebook. Nonetheless, it isn't the best-looking idea we've ever seen, and it won't play nice with a notebook sleeve.

Rory Dooley, Logitech senior vice president and general manager of the Control Devices business unit, said:

Logitech research revealed that the vast majority of people who use a notebook PC are mobile both within and outside the home. To meet the demands associated with increased mobility, the V550 mouse offers a complete set of features to make it easier to use a mouse with a notebook when moving from the kitchen to the living room or from one’s desk to a meeting. Now, you won’t have to choose between grabbing your mouse or a cup of coffee.

The V550 Nano is available in two colours; grey with silver accents and silver with cool-blue accents, and is priced at £49.99.

We can't see this one catching on, but if you're looking for a bagful of high-end Logitech gear, take a look at our latest HEXUS.winners win4FREE competition.

No, no a thousand times no.

I hate it lol

If you're going to travel with the laptop in a bag.. the mouse goes in the bag.

If you're going to move from desk to desk, the mouse either sits on top while you carry it, or goes in your pocket.

The nano reciever was/is a fantastic idea first seen on the original nano. This is just a problem that didn't need to be solved imo. If you forget your mouse.. you will forget to clip it to the notebook too. What they should have done is make a little sensor which when you close the lid says “Don't forget your mouse”.. problem solved :p
I'm thinking I can nearly get the same effect with velcro
Agreed with above, really stupid… You can put the mouse in your bag.. Daftness.

Off topic, the old nano was way better than the new one imo.. Why did they move the receiver inside the battery cover..
no thanks.
