Sony's highly-anticipated XPERIA X1 is yet to make it to retail, but images of what appears to be its successor have leaked onto the web.

The poor-quality shots (sorry) pictured below, are said to be of a forthcoming Sony Ericsson handset, the XPERIA X5.

The images could, of course, be an elaborate Photoshop, but the leak has been accompanied with an early set of specifications.

The iPhone-like device is said to feature a 3.2in touchscreen display, slightly bigger than the XPERIA X1's 3in offering. The touchscreen takes up nearly the entire front face, with what appears to be just two front-facing buttons.

It's rumoured to feature 8GB of internal memory, with an additional expansion slot, and will offer Wi-Fi and GPS.

Though these images show no sign of the XPERIA X1's slide-out QWERTY keyboard, they do hint at a rumoured eight megapixel camera with autofocus and xenon flash.

We wouldn't anticipate confirmation of such a device from Sony Ericsson anytime soon, at least until the XPERIA X1 makes its debut. That debut, it seems, could be October 30th.

Sony's answer to the Diamond Touch and the iPhone. Makes sense.

If they can pull off a decent camera on a WindowsMobile device, that will be a big deal.

It being SE I imagine that will be happening! Hopefully it will give HTC a well deserved kick to get the camera sorted out on there devices!
Absolutely. If SE are going to be using HTC to built more of these devices then they can only benefit from SEs experience in on board cameras. The next gen HTC devices could be very interesting… and should be out at the end of my contract next year :D
Alright for some, grumble grumble
The TyTN II was available in what, November last year? I know Bazzlad had his at the last MK meet, but I didn't get mine until late December. So with the Diamond Touch Pro being available about now, thats only 9 months between generations, so if they keep this up the replacement should be out in about May, making it widespread on networks when I can upgrade in June :)
