If vacuuming is one of your most disliked chores, take a look at Electrolux's new-and-improved automated vacuum cleaner, the Trilobite 2.0.

This handy little unit can start cleaning your floors at the touch of a button, or can be scheduled by time and day - just in case you want it to whizz around your home before you get back from work.

There are three cleaning programmes; normal, quick or spot, and the unit is slim enough to fit under most obstacles. The circular design prevents it from getting stuck, and it's equipped with built-in sensors that emit ultrasonic signals to provide the unit with a a 180-degree field of vision.

It'll begin by tracing the edges of your room - cleaning as it goes - and then moves on to clean the entire floorspace, be it hardwood or carpet.

The useful technology doesn't stop there, either. The Trilobite 2.0 can find its way back to its charging station on its own, so you needn't worry about keeping it powered up. The new model also has an infrared sensor to prevent it falling down the stairs - which, incidentally, are the one area it can't clean.

It sounds like vacuuming bliss, but it'll cost you in the region of Ā£999.
