The Royal Mint has accidentally issued undated 20p coins, and the collectors items are said to be the first undated British coins to enter circulation for more than 300 years.
It is estimated that between 50,000 and 200,000 undated coins were released into circulation, and collectors suggest they could be worth at least £50 today, and much more in future.
Back in 2008, the date on 20p coins was moved from the tails to the heads side, and the erroneous batch was created by combining the old heads with the new tails (as pictured right).
At present, private company The London Mint Office is offering to pay £50 for an undated 20p coin at its newly-created undated20p.com website. On eBay, meanwhile, undated 20p listings are attracting bids of hundreds of pounds.

Not really, coin collectors will be after them, and because there aren't many of them, and alot of them will be cashed in to the royal mint, it really is a collectors piece, and will hold it's value more than the currency that you sell it for...Quote
There are quite a few trying to pull a fast one, like the ones listed as "undated on queen's side" with the 1990s style of the queen's head, or just stating whatever date is on whatever 20p they've put up.
So whoever bids really isn't paying attention because the description is perfectly accurate, but it isn't what they're after...Quote
Or am I too cynical?
