James Sherwood of The Register reports:

Samsung has unveiled a super-slim watchphone, just weeks before the impending UK launch of LG’s GD910 Dick Tracy device.

Samsung's S9110 watchphone

The S9110 isn’t Samsung’s first watchphone – the firm launched a 2G phone-cum-watch back in 2003, but at 11.98mm thick the S9110 is thought to be the world’s thinnest watchphone so far.

Although Samsung’s keeping mum about the device’s connectivity specifications for the time being, the company has confirmed that the S9110 features a 1.7in scratch-proof touchscreen, Bluetooth 2.1 and support for MP3 audio files.

The watchphone doesn’t appear to have a user-facing camera for video calls, which could mean that LG’s version – which does support video calls – will be more highly sought after by tech addicts.

Samsung’s S9110 watchphone will be available in France next month for €450 (£387/$640), but it’s not yet known when the gadget will appear in Blighty.

Should be sought :)

Sounds interesting, but I don't think it would be something that most of us would use realistically. Though of course there will still be people who would buy it just so they can say that they have a ‘watchphone’.
Dunno, I could be quite tempted by one. The only thing that'd annoy me would be having to remember to carry a bluetooth headset with me all the time.

No video calls? Does ANYONE actually do video calling? I've checked with all my friends and have yet to find one! Heck, I swapped phones last year from an all singing and dancing one to a basic Nokia and can't say I miss any of the geek chic features.
Probably go the same way as watch calculators & watch remote controls.
I'd certainly be tempted by a gadget like this, in place of an iPhone or similiar, just for the sheer practicality of being able to carry around an MP3 player and phone without worrying about it getting smashed up in my pocket.

Hope they make a matching, light weight Bluetooth headset to go with it and that you can listen to your music over it as well.
£387..??? cough cough
