With the likes of Twitter suffering downtime at the hands of denial-of-service attacks, it could be seen as an opportune moment to launch an alternative.
At least, that's how the folks at Gloggy might see it, as they've unveiled their own micro-blogging service at Gloggy.com. The just-launched service offers Twitter-like functionality with one notable change - users can microblog messages of up to 160 characters in length, that's 20 characters more than Twitter.
All the usual Twitter functionality is included, so users are able to follow one another and send direct messages to friends. Unlike Twitter, however, users are also able to include images and videos in each tweet glog.
The next big thing, or just another imitator? Who knows, but we're not too keen on the name. Perhaps Gwitter would have been more suitable?
