Apple has started to issue invitations for a media event taking place at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco on Wednesday September 9th.

The often-rumoured event will kick off at 10am PT with many speculating that Apple's head honcho Steve Jobs could return to the stage to make his first public appearance following a liver transplant earlier in the year.

Despite rumours of an Apple Tablet, the official invitation indicates that this will be an event focusing heavily on Apple's iPod line - little surprise considering that Apple's last major iPod refresh took place on the same date in 2008. The Cupertino, California-based company is promoting its 2009 event with the tagline "It's only rock and roll, but we like it", a take on the title track of a 1974 album by The Rolling Stones.

Apple has thus far managed to keep any new or changed iPods firmly under wraps, but analysts believe the company will be updating its range by refreshing the iPod nano and by adding a camera to the iPod touch. A new version of iTunes is also expected.

So they make it a bit more curvy and slap an extra Ā£20 onto the price… yay cant wait :/
I wonder if they'll keep the exploding feature, or the wont-work-in any-mildly-warm-environment gizmo in? :p
Well if Microsoft doesn't hurry up and bring the Zune over here (I swear I read something that were they going to do this). I'm going to have to buy a iPod, I've started walking to walk, and I need music!

“a new version of iTunes is expected”

Blimey, it is Tuesday already?

(subtle joke about the fact that just about every week I seem to get a warning about “there's a new version available! Would you like to down load it?”)
