Teufel's ultimate stereo solution

Last but not least, Teufel has an upcoming ultra-high-end stereo solution for "anyone who wants the maximum sound performance from their speakers".

The Ultima 800, pictured below, consists of floor-standing speakers measuring one metre tall and weighing around 31kg each.

Available in glossy black or walnut finishes, the speakers house a large cloth domed tweeter with a Neodymium magnet, a mid-range driver with a pure titanium diaphragm and six woofers (two active and four passive Rohacell carbon sandwich).

The end result - even to an untrained-but-learning ear - is nothing short of astonishing. Teufel reckons the Ultima 800 is one of the best high-end speaker systems in its class, and we'd be hard pushed to argue.

When they arrive on the market, a single Ultima 800 speaker will set you back in the region of €1,400.

In summary, Teufel faces a challenging time ahead as it attempts to win over the UK market, but we've been left impressed by its products and the love that goes into them (envisioned above by Teufel's Andreas Gudhe).

Expect to be hearing more from the German manufacturer in the coming months.

Some seriously nice speakers for the seriously rich :P
but how do they sound?

Also in Home Cinema, 1,400 euros isn't much, and for HiFi its nothing…..
These are aimed for use with a PC though…..not traditional HiFi territory.

Most people willing to spend EU1400 on a SINGLE speaker will not trust a PC to drive the signal…..but instead run it through another 10k+ worth of kit instead.
And?

Plenty of people do this? My media PC talks digitally to my receiver via SPDIF…..

My understanding is these are just floorstanders plain and simple? £2,500 a pair isn't that bad for that sort of thing. Remeber when people buy speakers like that, they expect them to last decades.

The HTPC, Squeezebox and DAC that run my hi-fi are only worth 15% of my total spend.

When I buy a CD, it gets used once and goes in the cupboard :)
