Apple's Tablets cometh soon
Rumours persist that fruity computer maker, Apple, will be releasing an oversized iPod touch like tablet computer in early 2010.
Several media companies, including the New York Times, claim Apple has approached them to bung content onto such a device, via a new app for the tablet.
Early speculation from analysts and others who claim to have seen the mysterious device say it will resemble an oversized iPod, small enough to stick in a handbag (or manbag), but too big to fit in your pockets, unless, of course, you're a clown.
Apple seems to be squaring up to Amazon's Kindle too, with reports the touch screened wonder will be aimed at users who want to read books and newspapers, or do a bit of web surfing or light movie watching.
But Apple is apparently taking a slightly more developer friendly approach than Amazon, with media insiders claiming the reason Kindle didn't get many media content deals was that Amazon was demanding 70 per cent of any revenue from them. Apple, on the other hand, is purportedly asking for only 30 per cent.
It isn't, however, the first time rumours of an Apple slate have emerged, with the juicy gossip reaching something of a pinnacle back in August. It is thought something may have happened to cause a delay, and insiders now reckon punters won't be seeing this latest chunk of Apple until after the 2009 Holiday season.
