Just days after the introduction of E4 HD, Sky has once again upped its HD channel count to 37 with the exclusive launch of MGM HD.

The new channel, a joint venture between BSkyB and MGM, will run 24 hours a day, seven days a week and broadcasts HD re-mastered movies from the MGM library.

As a joint venture between BSkyB and MGM, the channel - available on Sky number 345 - will run exclusively in the UK on Sky's premium HD service. To tune in, customers will require a subscription to Sky's Dual Movies and HD pack, or a standalone subscription to MGM HD priced at £5 per month.

Described as a channel that offers "an unparallelled range of titles and genres stretching back from recent years to renowned movie classics," MGM HD will showcase films such as The Pink Panther series, Annie Hall, The Apartment, Moonstruck and Manhattan.

Mike Darcey, Sky's chief operating officer, had this to say: "This new joint venture demonstrates our on-going commitment to investing in high-quality HD content for our customers.  Offering a range of classic MGM movies, some for the very first time, this new channel joins an already impressive HD movie offering on Sky.  It also means that customers can enjoy more classic movies the way they deserve to be seen, in stunning HD."

Sky now claims to offer up to 13,000 hours of HD content per month, adding that its HD subscriber-base stood at 1.6m as of September 30th 2009.

£5 a month could be ok for some but like all sky movies its more likly to be several films a week constantly repeated at different times…. most that you dont want to see
good to see more HD coming out though
Yup, just seen it added here. Seems to be older films from the archives though :(
