Sky is scheduled to launch Europe's first 3D TV channel this coming Saturday, but if you're inclined to try before you buy, you might want to head to a local pub to catch the handful of live 3D football games scheduled to air before the end of the current Premier League season.

The next big fixture is this Saturday's potential title decider between Manchester United and Chelsea, and in order to help guide supports or 3D enthusiasts to the nearest 3D-enabled pub, the broadcaster has made available a 3D Pub Finder.

There seems to be thousands of pubs across the country equipped with 3D TVs and polarised glasses, so finding a venue close to home shouldn't be a problem.

Following Saturday's game, the venues - in conjunction with Sky 3D - will show at least five more Premier League games before the end of the season, as well as the Football League play-offs from Wembley.

Ever needed an excuse to get down the local for a swift half or two? This could be it.

To find your local 3D pub, head on over to 3D.Sky.com/pubfinder.

What a great utility! Nice idea really. However, I cannot imagine that there is a market for such a thing. It sounds funny, but would anyone spend some money on this in reality?

erm… I would at the drop of a hat!

I'll probably wait though for the first revisions to come through and the prices to stabilise before I decide that I want a 3D TV for my room at home and wait to get enough good 3D content provided on either virgin or sky.

What's the point of getting it early if we're only going to have 3-6 channels that take advantage of it :)
20.7 miles to my nearest 3d pub. bit of atrek to watch a footie match.

Will be interesting to see if this takes off.

Bit like HD 12 months ago really… it's not even that much better now.

As people have said before, my main hope for 3D is that it'll make HD free, much as HD made Sky+ free.

As for the pubs, I've got 3 within a 3 mile radius, so I should really try it some time. I've heard it is actually very good in the flesh, you don't get so much of the “is it going in” effect that 2D pictures suffer from.
thats funny no one even needs this lol
