PORT Designs laptop bag

Damage in transit is the big killer of laptop PCs; and repairs and replacement parts – especially of screens - can be fearful expensive. So we were pleased to hear from one bag maker - PORT Designs – that it's now offering a free one-year screen-protection guarantee on selected models, backed by London General Insurance.

Clearly, the company, the claimed market leader in France and Germany, is pretty confident in the impact-protection capabilities of its patented shock-absorbing MATT SYSTEM - found in its colourful line up of satchel-style cases, trolley bags, messenger bags and backpacks.

Others must be, too, it would seem, since the company also supplies own-brand bags to for NEC, Logitech and Samsung. Check out PORT Designs' web site for more info: http://www.portdesigns.co.uk.

I have myself a Pakuma Akara K2 (Rys reviewed the Akara K1.) It really does rock. The padding is excellent. Moving back to Uni I had my laptop and god knows what else in it. I had to walk about 3/4 of a mile, but it really wasn't a problem. It's great for holing other stuff too, not just a laptop, like paper, books, stationary, shopping and so on.

I usually take out some 3rd party insurance on a lappy any way, so PORT's offer isn't of much use to me. I've not had any contact with their bags either.
