HP & Compaq notebooks to offer Vongo video-download trial

Starz Entertainment Group enters into marketing agreement with HP to promote Vongo on HP and Compaq notebook PCs

Deal will provide HP customers with special 30-day trial to subscription service offering movie and video titles via the internet

ENGLEWOOD, Colo., March 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Starz Entertainment Group LLC (SEG) today announced a co-marketing agreement with HP to promote Vongo, SEG's new video download application and service, on the entire line of HP and Compaq consumer notebook personal computers (PCs) in the United States. The agreement gives HP customers a one-month, unlimited trial subscription to the Vongo service. With Vongo, consumers can download from more than 1,000 selections of movies and other video content.

Beginning this Spring, the special promotional offer will be bundled into HP and Compaq consumer notebook computers. With Vongo, new purchasers of the HP Pavilion and Compaq Presario notebook lines will be able to download and watch movies, concerts, extreme sports, and other video content directly from their hard drives on the color-rich Brightview displays.

Upon expiration of the trial subscription, customers may continue to take advantage of Vongo's full subscription service, with unlimited access to movies and video selections, as well as a live, streaming Starz TV channel, for a monthly cost of $9.99. With Vongo, users are able to download movie and video selections to a PC, plus two other devices for a total of three per account, allowing for multiple viewing options. Additionally, select popular pay-per-view titles are available for $3.99 per movie.

As one of the largest content aggregators in Hollywood, Starz Entertainment Group has access to thousands of theatrical films that it makes available on Vongo including "Hitch," "The Aviator," "The Incredibles," "National Treasure," "Sin City," and coming later this year "Bewitched," "Flight Plan," "Rent," "Chicken Little," and "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe."

Starz Entertainment Group is the exclusive subscription provider of first-run, classic and favorite films from leading Hollywood studios including Walt Disney Pictures, Miramax Films, Touchstone Pictures, Hollywood Films, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Columbia Tri-Star, Screen Gems, Revolution Studios and more. Select recent films are available exclusively from Universal Pictures and New Line Cinema and library and classic titles are provided by a wide array of Hollywood studios.

Additional programming available to Vongo subscribers includes full-length music concerts ("INXS: Live Baby Live," "Blues Traveler: Live at Red Rocks," "Jay-Z: I Will Not Lose," "The Who: Live in Boston," "Phil Collins: A Life Less Ordinary"), and extreme sports ("Warren Miller's Storm," "Warren Miller's Journey," "Real Action Sports," "Ride Guide").

In January 2006, Starz also announced a partnership with Microsoft and is using the Windows Media platform for Vongo to provide a seamless download and viewing experience while protecting content. In addition, Vongo is one of the first applications developed that allows users to transfer subscription movies to the next generation of Microsoft's Windows Mobile-based Portable Media Centers.
