Looks like one of our favourite disc-burning suites just got considerably better.
Roxio has taken its Easy Media Creator 9 bundle - launched in September last year - and added analogue video capture hardware, along with a number of other goodies, including encoding to DivX video, new DVD menu designs and a sound editor - BIAS SoundSoap 2 - reckoned to reduces unwanted noise in audio and video files.
The result - and it's coming soon - is Easy Media Creator 9 Deluxe, carrying a VAT-inclusive suggested price of £89.99 that looks astonishingly good value when you consider the standalone cost of what's been added.

Also new are a one-year free subscription to the SightSpeed Pro call/chat/video-conferencing service and Roxio Disc Gallery, an app claimed to make it ultra simple to keep track of what's on all your optical discs - CD, DVD and even Blu-ray Disc.
The newly-added video capture hardware is Pinnacle's Dazzle DVC90 USB box. Inputs for S-video, composite video and L/R audio mean you can capture from a range of analogue video sources, such as VHS, S-VHS, 8mm and Hi8. And captured footage can be brought in as MPEG-1, DVD-standard MPEG-2 or space-saving H.264 MPEG-4.
BIAS SoundSoap 2 looks especially interesting if, as promised, it really is able to "easily detect and remove audio imperfections without harming the original sound". The app is said to have a rich graphical display that highlights the sound imperfections in real-time and, if that's so, then it may be akin to the very clever tool that Adobe provides to do that job in its upmarket Audition sound editor.
