First, Virgin took over NTL/Telewest and things looked good. Then they realised running an ISP is hard work, and started to cause a small number of customers problems during rollout of new services. Then Sky wanted more money for giving Virgin the privilege of broadcasting Sky One, but Virgin did not comply, so it went. We all remember the fuss Virgin kicked up about that.

And now, Tiscali's just signed a deal with BSkyB to show Sky One, along with some of the other more boring Sky channels, on its TV service. So, subscribers to Tiscali's TV service will be able to enjoy daily doses of The Simpsons, Lost, 24 and all the very 'best' of American TV shows.

Ā£14.99 a month will get customers Tiscali's triple-play of TV, broadband and phone, including the Sky channels, of course.

Tiscali's entry into TV comes following its buyout of an IPTV firm - HomeChoice - last year, which covers the south-east of the country. It'll be deploying the service to the rest of the country in the third quarter of this year.

Will Virgin start mouthing off about this new deal? Will Sky issue a statement saying "Virgin: Na na na na na"? We hope so.

i thought NTL and Telewest merged and then they licensed the name off mr branson to try and take focus away from NTL's crappy reputation?
