The news

Hull-based comms specialist Solwise is extending its line up of HomePlug mains-borne networking products with an initial four items from the VeseNET range due November 29 - two of them of types we've not seen before.

One of the novel newcomers is an 85Mbps HomePlug adaptor with three Ethernet ports (£40.77 inc VAT); the other is a 14Mbps HomePlug security webcam (£56.48).

Their companions are HomePlug adaptors with single ports - one 85Mbps (£32.77), the other 14Mbps adapter (£22.67).

HomePlug adaptors let you use household wiring instead of wired or wireless Ethernet to bring an internet connection to anywhere in the home there is a mains socket - without the hassle and expense of running special cables and without the connectivity problems so commonly experience with WiFi.

They can also be used in the same way to stream video, audio and stills from a PC over the mains to network media players anywhere in the house. In the case of the VeseNET camera, HomePlug gives you web-based remote access to what's going on at home.
